As a church, we do our best to help one another; especially our own members. And, in return, our members do a great job by helping serve one another in their community.
These things can range from basic clean-up, yard work, rides into town, basic carpentry, installing door hinges, door knobs, bringing firewood indoors, delivering firewood, roofing patch repairs, hauling water, sharing food… And an assortment of many other things!
The reason members reach out to help, when led by the Holy Spirit, is to show Jesus to the community. It’s what Jesus would do, and it allows for relationships to be made & conversations to be had, with people, that may not otherwise have happened.
Most homes, on the reservation, rely on wood as the main source of heat. Unfortunately, being in the desert, there’s not many trees!.
Thankfully, we do have groups that visit during the summer, who help go pick wood from the nearby forests, of Flagstaff. We then bring it back to the church, where it is then cut to finish size, split and then stacked.
Once fall & winter rolls around, members of the church help to load up vehicles, from the surrounding communities. This wood is sold to the community at a huge discount, and the funds raised, are used towards church expenses.
Throughout the year, Tuba City Church of Christ hosts events, which draw folks from our community. In the fall, we typically have a soup/chili cook-off, where we invite people to come for free food and to “judge” the best soup.
We also do a Sno-cone stand, which attracts many of the kids!
We also host “Movie-Nights“, where we play movies from a projector, on a big screen outside. We’ll have free food for those that come out.
These are just a few of things we do!
This is an awesome Prison Ministry, that we’ve done every year since 2013. The church hosts a meal and distributes gifts to kids that have parents that are in prison. The families are invited to church, to share a meal and receive their gifts.
It’s a great time of fellowship and a chance for kids to get gifts that otherwise may not have.
Most of the gifts and funds for gifts, are received through donations that we have been given. Church members then come together, wrap the gifts, decorate the church and prepare a meal for the guests.
If you have been a part of this ministry, we thank you so much!
